In this lesson, Jesus continues to build upon the beatitudes. He explained to the crowd that they must humble themselves and recognize that they are sinners. In this section, He now goes on to teach that once we realize we are sinners, we need to mourn over our sins. Having a heart of repentance is key to salvation. Jesus does not just leave us there to mourn; He then promises to comfort all who repent and believe. This is the beauty of the gospel.

In this short teaching, we look at the life of Corrie Ten Boom. She is a woman who helped save over 800 Jews in WW2. She also started a teen outreach center and rehab house for recovering Jews after the war. Her love even extended to Nazi sympathizers. Boom's bravery and dedication to Jesus is a shining example to us today of what it means to love God and love our neighbor.
